On a good day, Marianne would freely admit she’s not the brightest bulb. She gets frustrated easily, she’s picky about her meals, and she dropped out of college in junior year. But that belies an intimate knowledge of magical focus — the mixing and brewing of potions and the growing and usage of crystals, which she’s even made a moderately successful small business out of. She knows her way around all sorts of bizarre ingredients, from cobalt carrots to mandrake glutes, and keeps a small garden packed with plants and crystals for ingredients.

Don’t expect love potions or cures for the common cold, though. She brews for herself and a surprising number of fellow sickos — drinks and colorful rocks that will leave you big, round, or some other similar shape. She’s been accused of being too horny for her own good (mostly by her sister), but she doesn’t mind. Go big or go home (and get big there!). In any case, she secretly thinks her sister Anna’s magical focus — runes and words — is cooler and more impressive than her own, though she’d never say it unprompted.

That said, she’s more than just her appetites. Her friends would tell you that for all her airheadedness, she’s a warm and friendly person — keen to hang out whenever they ask and more than happy to treat them when she can. Whether it’s splitting a few dozen donuts, being a shoulder to lean on, or spending a weekend filling an entire warehouse, she shows up. Even her sister Anna is more than willing to stand up for her when push comes to shove. She’s off-beat, but she manages to fit into the rhythms of others, leading to quite a few interesting friendships.
